Support the independent bookseller whenever possible -- go to BookSense for links and info.

Good book shopping right here in town includes local treasures Cultura Latina in Long Beach -- 4125 Norse Way -- right off of Carson & close to LBCC, and the Book Connection at 4218 Atlantic Blvd. in North Long Beach.

Be sure to check the "Search Books" link on the SEARCH page; more good online shopping includes Powells (great links!), Borders, Barnes and Noble (discounted prices and fast delivery), and Amazon (home of the genius "Wish List" -- look for mine!)

Worthy Los Angeles area road trips: Vroman's in Pasadena - 395 E. Colorado; Book Soup in West Hollywood @ 8818 Sunset Blvd.; whenever I spend time in The Bodhi Tree Bookstore at 8585 Melrose Ave. I leave inspired to be a better person; discover blissful browsing in Brentwood, at Dutton's, 11975 San Vincente Blvd.

When I was a girl, feminist bookstores were not so hard to find -- but now there's just one good one left (that I know of -- if I'm wrong, I want to know!) in the Los Angeles area: Sisterhood Bookstore @ 1351 Westwood Blvd. And if you're interested in booksellers that specialize in authors and titles for the GLBT community, please click here.

Two historical sites: City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco, and A Clean, Well Lighted Place, also in San Francisco. Let me know if you're going to visit San Francisco any time soon -- the first five students to read this far and know what famous literary movement is associated with City Lights, and what famous author is being alluded to in A Clean, Well Lighted Place -- well, bring that information to me, and I'll award a prize of some kind; something modest, but nice.
